Which one?
"The blue pill ...or the red?'"
You might remember hearing that phrase from The Matrix. Morpheus asks Neo which pill he would like to take; the blue, or the red. One allows you to believe what you want to believe, the other points out life.
This kind of goes for those of us on anti-depressants. Do we take the the Prozac? ..or do we skip it?
Maybe we have a pride that refuses to take pills. But we also know it will do us alot of good to take the medication. That's why it is prescribed to us.
So is there anytime you grab for the familiar orange bottle, press down and twist the child proof top and roll out one of those jagged little pills, do you ever ask yourself, "Do I take the blue pill or the red?"

Diagnosis
I was first diagnosed with depression many years ago, in the fall of 2002 or so. After several set backs and some stress, I fell into what I didn't know at the time; but, was later called a state of, "clinical depression."
I was asked whether or not I would like to take pills to "cure" this depression. I declined and opted for counseling which after a couple sessions, cleared any "clinical" level of depression. To be honest, I was fine before any counseling as I had already got back on my feet many weeks before hand. So this was my introduction into depression and psychiatric treatment, an area I am still very new to.

The Begining
Hello All,
I started this blog for all of us who just happen to be prescribed antidepressants. There should be no reason to feel ostracized for psychiatric medicines designed to alter or change our moods and/or behaviors, yet I can't help but think we sometimes feel the sting of the stigma associated with mental illness long before the Doctor writes up an Rx. Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro; you name it, we've see it all.
I hope this Blog will give you an avenue of which you feel comfortable telling your story in the comments section: your background, who you are (if you wish to tell as this is an anonymous blog format), what you think of psychiatric medicine, do you feel the medications are working for you, and anything else you would like to say.
Please feel free to post your experience and thoughts.
